Extended Learning Opportunities Department

The Extended Learning Opportunities Department (ELO), manages the Academy Programs which include, the After School Academy, Intersession programs, Summer School, Saturday School (Middle and High School students only) and Family Literacy events. The department's funding comes from both state and federal grants.  The Academy Programs are free to participating students grades 1-12 and offer California Content-Standard aligned, experiential (hands-on) learning programs that provide life and academic skill development in a fun, engaging environment.

 
The Academy Program, in addition to offering content-standard aligned academic lessons, also offers enrichment opportunites in Art, Technology, Science, Creative Writing, Soccer, Karate, etc.

07/01/2012 - UPDATE TO PUBLIC NOTICE DATED 12/14/2011

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD), applied for 21st Century Community Learning Centers and 21st Century After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (Seaside High only), funding on January 11, 2012.  On May 4, 2012, notification was received that the funding was not awarded, resulting in NO Before School, After School, Intersession, Summer and Saturday Academies for the 2012-2013 School Year.  The loss of funding affects the following schools; Colton Middle, Foothill Elementary, La Mesa Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Monte Vista Elementary, Olson Elementary, and Seaside High.  For more information contact the Office of Extended Learning Opportunities at (831)392-3944.

 

12/14/11 - PUBLIC NOTICE

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District (MPUSD), is applying for 21st Century Community Learning Centers and 21st Century After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens, Federal Grant Funding, Cohort 7.  The effective dates of the funding, if received, will be July 1, 2012 - December 31, 2017.  The grant funds will be used to support student's academic success, as well as offer life enhancing opportunties through enrichment activities, during before and after school hours.   For more information contact MPUSD's Extended Learning Opportunities Department at (831) 392-3944.
